Bluebird Care Torbay rated Outstanding

Home care provider awarded top marks by CQC

Bluebird Care Torbay has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, with inspectors saying the care company provided “a service which put people at the heart of everything they did.”

The family-run domiciliary care company based in Torbay provides care to the elderly in their own homes. Their Outstanding rating comes as an achievement that only three per cent of care providers in England can boast.

Bluebird Care’s result came after a three-day inspection, which took place in November 2018, followed by tense period of waiting. When the report returned, the Bluebird Care Torbay team were elated to see that their attention to care had been recognised by the inspector and classed as “Outstanding” in both the Well-led and Caring components.

According to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the company was “constantly looking at innovative ways in which they could enrich the lives of the people they supported and enhance their wellbeing.’, and the report continued to say: ‘Kindness, respect, dignity and compassion were key principles on which the service was built.”

Bluebird Care Torbay’s Registered Manager, Deserie Atkins, said “Continuous improvement is something we strive for as this enhances the customer and staff experience.”

“I would personally like to thank all staff for their hard work and dedication that has helped us to achieve our ‘overall outstanding’ status, without them this would not have been possible. I would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our customers who took part in the inspection and were so complimentary about us all. You are the reason we all come to work, in the hope that we can make a positive difference to your day.”

The CQC report focused significantly on employee satisfaction and praised the people-led company , stating: “Staff told us they were proud to work at Bluebird Care and spoke very highly about the support they received, how the service was managed and the encouragement they received when suggesting improvements.”

Directors, Alexander and Emma Allan, said the result of the CQC inspection was “a testament to the dedication of our entire team, who provide the very highest standards of care for our customers, and always with a smile on their faces”.
