Courtland Freemasons Lodge who have met in Paignton since 1948 have recently donated £250 to Rowcroft Hospice Torbay.

The picture shows  W. Bro. Mark Bowes-Cavanagh, Lodge Charity Steward together with their Worshipful Master W. Bro. Steve Almond presenting the cheque to Debbi Shotton the Hospice Fundraising Manager.

This magnificent sum has been raised by the members of the Courtland lodge during the year that Steve has been their master, each year the current master nominates his chosen charities and on the same day they also presented a cheque for £100 to “Combat Stress”.   By the end of his year as the Worshipful Master of Courtland Lodge Steve hopes to raise at least another £1000 which will be shared between “Chicks” & “Kids Get Going”

Debbi Shotton praised the work of the lodge in raising this very worthy sum of money  not only for her own charity but also for the overall work carried out by the masons of their lodge by raising so much money for others in need.

Steve and Mark commented that this is just one small part of what Freemasonry does within the community and will continue to do as the organisation has done throughout its 300 year history.
