The students from The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Torbay are delighted to announce that their 2017 cinema screening will take place on Monday 6th November at the state-of-the-art Vue Cinema in Paignton.
PQA Torbay is set to hold a ‘red carpet’ premiere where students, their friends and family will come together to watch their film projects on the big screen. The aspiring actors and film makers are set for an exciting and glamourous event they will never forget!
Two of the films due to be shown at the screening, Virus and Wear Blue, have also been advocated by the charity Bullying UK for promotional purposes ahead of ‘Wear Blue’ on 10th November.
Students at PQA receive training every Saturday in film & television alongside modules in musical theatre and comedy & drama. The 4-18 year olds have worked hard for many months writing, shooting, acting and editing their short films ready for the screening.
The Academy is also fresh from their hugely successful performance of The Lazy Ace, a show written specially for PQA students, that they performed in July at Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End.
Principal of PQA Torbay, Victoria Whelan said: ‘The students should be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this year. Their focus and dedication has been inspiring and they have been rewarded with a brilliant West End performance and lots of exciting films to share with friends and family.’
If that wasn’t enough, the young starlets are set to take to the stage next year at The Palace Theatre in their production of High School Musical Jr.!
PQA Torbay runs every Saturday morning at South Devon College. For more information please visit www.pqacademy.com or call 0800 531 6282.
