The Clock Is Ticking

The Clock Is Ticking

The clock is ticking that’s for sure
Dear Lord, I hope they find a cure,
For 10 years + I’ve had dementia,
Curbing all my life`s adventures,
So tired, so tired all the time,
Never knowing when my mind is mine,
Battling hard from day to day,
Sometimes not knowing quite what to say,
Month on month, year on year,
Always living with this fear,
My hopes my dreams come tumbling down,
A smile turns into an awful frown,
And it goes on, dementia`s reign,
Almost nothing left of my poor brain
For 10 yrs + it’s chipped away,
And forever with me, it will always stay,
Unless they find that elusive cure,
Towards my death it will lure,
But until that day arrives,
No more sunshine, no more tides,
Dont be sad, or cry for me,
I`m still happy, as you can see.
To have lived so long with this fate
Many haven’t reached this date,
Please weep for them, and not for me,
And hope the futures ours to see
