W. Bro. Keith Bower and his wife Ros were recently invited to attend a Teddy Bear‘s Picnic Supper at the Paignton Masonic Centre in Courtland Road held in aid of the Teddy’s For Loving Care charity fund (TLC).
Teddy’s For Loving Care is an organisation within Freemasonry that supply Teddy Bears to the emergency departments of hospitals throughout Devon and the whole of England for them in turn to give to children who are distressed during the course of their treatment, over the last 10 years they have donated over 50,000 in Devon and almost 3 million throughout the country, these Teddies all funded by Freemasons through evenings and fundraising events such as this.
It all started when Keith gave W. Bro. Roger Watson a large teddy to raffle, Roger then decided that with the help of others in his lodge they could do better by holding a social evening for the members of the 3 lodges that meet in the building along with their families, the evening was a great success everyone had fun and a fine meal supplied by the members wife’s & partners and the raffle raised almost £200 towards purchasing more teddy’s for the children.
They are hoping to repeat the event again later in the year Keith said that if any other Freemasons wanted to hold a similar event he would supply the Teddy.
