Blue Cross rehoming centre in Torbay is celebrating its 30th birthday, 30 years of helping find perfect homes for pets in Devon, and you’re all invited. The party and open day will be at the rehoming centre on Ashley Priors Lane from 11am – 3pm on Saturday 30 June 2018.
The centre, which started out as a small house with a cattery, has seen a lot of change over the years, from being expanded to make space for more staff and cats, to a new cattery being built in 2017 following a tree falling through the ceiling during a storm. The compact rehoming centre which used to only rehome cats, now finds new homes for dogs and small animals too.
Over the last 10 year period alone, the Torbay rehoming centre has increased the number of pets rehomed by 24%, from 281 cats in 2007 to 348 pets in 2017, which includes dogs and small animals. For 2018, Torbay has already rehomed 159 pets up to the end of May, including 130 cats, eight dogs and 21 small animals. Since 2006, almost 4000 pets have been matched to their perfect new home by the rehoming team at Blue Cross Torbay.
