Torbay residents invited to develop their dance skills

Torbay residents are invited to pull on their dancing shoes and get fit and healthy at free classes this autumn.

Sanctuary Housing has teamed up with Pyramid Studios in Torquay to offer the fun sessions to anyone aged 14 and over, with people of any ability or experience welcome.

Attendees can expect to strut to salsa music and bop while belly dancing, as well as taking part in a range of other dance-based movement classes until the programme finishes in December.

With both morning and afternoon sessions available, they are aimed at improving the participants’ health and wellbeing, as well as developing skills and increasing confidence and self-esteem.

The dance fitness training forms part of Sanctuary’s wider Love Sport initiative, which is taking place in neighbourhoods around the country and aims to engage more than 2,250 residents in sport and fitness activities.

Sanctuary’s commitment to the five-year programme has been matched by Sport England, through National Lottery investment, to help deliver the sessions.

Lynne Roberts, Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnerships manager for Torbay, said: “As well as offering Torbay residents a great opportunity to improve their health and fitness, they’ll also have the chance to learn a host of new dancing skills.

“I’d urge all Torbay residents aged 14 and over to come along and join in the fun!”

The dance and fitness classes in Torbay are taking place weekly at Pyramid Studios, 3 Parkfield House, Teignmouth Road, Torquay TQ1 4EX, from now until 6 December. For more information email, or call Pyramid Studios on 01803 315006
