Hi Guys October is underway and what will it bring ? Well for one thing we are looking forward already to the Torquay Christmas Carnival no sooner had the Paignton festival finished than our ladies from the Zumba classes were asking “what are we doing for the Christmas carnival” there is no stopping them when it comes to putting on a show ! Their reward is enjoyment and comradeship. The other side of all the Carnivals we take part in is that it raises awareness and funds for charity. Speaking of which we were lucky to have a massive response to our Zumbathon held at Torbay Leisure Centre in September. 3 hours of wonderful routines shown by 6 different instructors from the Bay all with their own style, all raising money for National Autistic Society. and the local support group Tissues and Issues. Both of which are very close to our friends who joined us on the day. The staggering amount raised was over £1100, so proud of everyone who took part. So come on Zumba ladies lets get together for a “Candyland” display round Torquay on 16th Nov “ain’t no stopping us now” Paul

Just to put you all “in the picture” so to speak, the accompanying photo is of myself and my other half Helen, who has been with me through thick and thin in my career as a teacher of fitness and dance.
I qualified as a fitness teacher of Exercise to music back in 1990, with the Y M C A going on to teach fitness in many formats eg. Step /Aqua and Zumba.
Zumba took me back to my roots as a dancer. So this has been our passion as much as any other form of exercise, together we demonstrate our love of dance fitness at various charity events throughout the Bay during the year.
It gives us great pleasure to see the fun people have trying out new routines, and the most important thing we find is that no-one is embarrassed or age or shape conscious we all join together in the pleasure of it. Anyone who thinks it is not a serious contender in this age of hard hitting exercise classes should try it ! without giving too much away neither of us is under the age of 60 and still going strong.
