The Wrong Time
I shouted aloud but she didn’t hear her name!
Whistled but her lack of reaction was the same!
I could see my friend farther along the main road,
She must have left early not done as she was told!
She must have thought she was participant in race,
I hurried onwards, hoping her to outpace.
As I walked faster, jogging almost, so did she,
At traffic lights, she crossed road but didn’t spot me.
Exhausted, I caught up with her beside sea shore,
But I was out of breath, couldn’t shout anymore!
“Hello” she said with surprise, “I’ve beaten you I see
Cause I left home at quarter to the hour, not three!”
